History
Child Labor hasn't been a problem in America since the Industrial Revolution to the late 1800's. Children were hired only because no one else was available due to a war. These children would work long hours in extremely harsh conditions with little to no pay. For the most part, this all ended in America with the signing of the Keating-Owen Act back in 1916 which prevented any child under the age of 14 from working. This was mostly thanks to photographer, Lewis Hine (example to the right), who would go and photograph these children working, and print them in the newspaper.
